Golpaldhara's Rohini estate Gold Wire Autumnal Darjeeling, offers a luscious late season treat. The cup is medium amber gold in color, and medium-light bodied. The aroma is fruity, suggesting muscatel grape and plum, but the cup holds much more. Initial taste sensations are those of toast, cocoa and honey, then opening up to plum and fig, hints of spice, and in the super smooth finish, a wonderful nuance of floral notes. Oolong fans may enjoy this one, as it holds similarities with Zhongshan Baiye Oolong from China with all the complexities and richness.

This tea contains a medium level of caffeine | Steep at 212° for 3 minutes.

~Phenomenal Autumnal Darjeeling~ I am a huge fan of 3rd Flush & this delivers all the delectable notes of muscatel raisin, honey and earthiness.

Hard to describe muscatel leathery aromas were noted in my communiTEA packet.

I had 3.57 grams of tea, enough for a medium strength 14 ounce steep. I steep Darjeelings at 200°F for three minutes, when most of the leaves have fallen to the bottom of my steeper.

When hot, mild toasty and unsweetened dark cocoa flavors were noted. No sugar was added,

When warm, moderate spicy tastes were noted on the front of my tongue. Moderate muscatel raisin flavors were noted. Mild anise/licorice flavors were present.

A mild bitterness and astringency was noted towards finish. (3 mins @ 200F, no sugar)

I'm enjoying this tea - it's robust and complex and a little bit mineral. I would not have picked out the flavour profiles in the description on my own, but they fit well. There's a touch of figgy character, as another reviewer noted, and definitely the honeyed quality. Others have mentioned that this holds up well to multiple steeps, so I will resteep it and see how the experience changes. Steeped 3 min @ 195º.

An outstanding Autumnal Darjeeling sip that was very sweet, almost the point of being a dessert tea! Very strong notes of honey and a bit of fruitiness. I had two co-workers try it, including one from India, and they both loved it. The one from India said it reminded him of the tea he used to get back home. I gaiwan brewed this for 6 steeps and it was still putting out great flavor. An excellent tea!

This Indian Darjeeling is a very pleasant tea from this region. It works very well for gongfu brewing, which brings out more flavors profiles with each steep (good for 4-5 for me). A very nice choice for those who prefer pure teas, as I do. (3 mins @ 185°F)

How long have you been growing tea and what got your started?
I began working when I was 18 years old and worked at Rohini estate for the past five years. I work as a plucker in the Rohini and Gopaldhara gardens during the annual harvest.

What is your favorite part of growing tea?
Each season I work with the same group of women picking tea. Many have become my good friends, so it's enjoyable to spend a day in the field hearing their stories.

Conversely, what is the hardest part of your job?
The weather in Darjeeling is unpredictable and it rains a lot. Being outside when the weather changes and the rains come down is my least favorite part.

Are there any tips you can give on how to best brew your tea? Any advice?
Darjeeling tea is very famous and the garden receives many foreign visitors. I am glad to know that I help produce something for which my country of India is well known.
